The Secret History of Guns

The Ku Klux Klan, Ronald Reagan, and, for most of its history, the NRA all worked to control guns. The Founding Fathers? They required gun ownership—and regulated it. And no group has more fiercely advocated the right to bear loaded weapons in public than the Black Panthers—the true pioneers of the modern pro-gun movement. In the battle over gun rights in America, both sides have distorted history and the law, and there’s no resolution in sight.

The eighth-grade students gathering on the west lawn of the state capitol in Sacramento were planning to lunch on fried chicken with California’s new governor, Ronald Reagan, and then tour the granite building constructed a century earlier to resemble the nation’s Capitol. But the festivities were interrupted by the arrival of 30 young black men and women carrying .357 Magnums, 12-gauge shotguns, and .45-caliber pistols.
The 24 men and six women climbed the capitol steps, and one man, Bobby Seale, began to read from a prepared statement. “The American people in general and the black people in particular,” he announced, must
take careful note of the racist California legislature aimed at keeping the black people disarmed and powerless Black people have begged, prayed, petitioned, demonstrated, and everything else to get the racist power structure of America to right the wrongs which have historically been perpetuated against black people The time has come for black people to arm themselves against this terror before it is too late.
Seale then turned to the others. “All right, brothers, come on. We’re going inside.” He opened the door, and the radicals walked straight into the state’s most important government building, loaded guns in hand. No metal detectors stood in their way.

The text of the Second Amendment is maddeningly ambiguous. It merely says, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Yet to each side in the gun debate, those words are absolutely clear.
Gun-rights supporters believe the amendment guarantees an individual the right to bear arms and outlaws most gun control. Hard-line gun-rights advocates portray even modest gun laws as infringements on that right and oppose widely popular proposals—such as background checks for all gun purchasers—on the ground that any gun-control measure, no matter how seemingly reasonable, puts us on the slippery slope toward total civilian disarmament.
This attitude was displayed on the side of the National Rifle Association’s former headquarters: THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED. The first clause of the Second Amendment, the part about “a well regulated Militia,” was conveniently omitted. To the gun lobby, the Second Amendment is all rights and no regulation.
Although decades of electoral defeats have moderated the gun-control movement’s stated goals, advocates still deny that individual Americans have any constitutional right to own guns. The Second Amendment, in their view, protects only state militias. Too politically weak to force disarmament on the nation, gun-control hard-liners support any new law that has a chance to be enacted, however unlikely that law is to reduce gun violence. For them, the Second Amendment is all regulation and no rights.
While the two sides disagree on the meaning of the Second Amendment, they share a similar view of the right to bear arms: both see such a right as fundamentally inconsistent with gun control, and believe we must choose one or the other. Gun rights and gun control, however, have lived together since the birth of the country. Americans have always had the right to keep and bear arms as a matter of state constitutional law. Today, 43 of the 50 state constitutions clearly protect an individual’s right to own guns, apart from militia service.
Yet we’ve also always had gun control. The Founding Fathers instituted gun laws so intrusive that, were they running for office today, the NRA would not endorse them. While they did not care to completely disarm the citizenry, the founding generation denied gun ownership to many people: not only slaves and free blacks, but law-abiding white men who refused to swear loyalty to the Revolution.
For those men who were allowed to own guns, the Founders had their own version of the “individual mandate” that has proved so controversial in President Obama’s health-care-reform law: they required the purchase of guns. A 1792 federal law mandated every eligible man to purchase a military-style gun and ammunition for his service in the citizen militia. Such men had to report for frequent musters—where their guns would be inspected and, yes, registered on public rolls.
Opposition to gun control was what drove the black militants to visit the California capitol with loaded weapons in hand. The Black Panther Party had been formed six months earlier, in Oakland, by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale. Like many young African Americans, Newton and Seale were frustrated with the failed promise of the civil-rights movement. Brown v. Board of Education, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 were legal landmarks, but they had yet to deliver equal opportunity. In Newton and Seale’s view, the only tangible outcome of the civil-rights movement had been more violence and oppression, much of it committed by the very entity meant to protect and serve the public: the police.
Inspired by the teachings of Malcolm X, Newton and Seale decided to fight back. Before he was assassinated in 1965, Malcolm X had preached against Martin Luther King Jr.’s brand of nonviolent resistance. Because the government was “either unable or unwilling to protect the lives and property” of blacks, he said, they had to defend themselves “by whatever means necessary.” Malcolm X illustrated the idea for Ebony magazine by posing for photographs in suit and tie, peering out a window with an M-1 carbine semiautomatic in hand. Malcolm X and the Panthers described their right to use guns in self-defense in constitutional terms. “Article number two of the constitutional amendments,” Malcolm X argued, “provides you and me the right to own a rifle or a shotgun.”
Guns became central to the Panthers’ identity, as they taught their early recruits that “the gun is the only thing that will free us—gain us our liberation.” They bought some of their first guns with earnings from selling copies of Mao Zedong’s Little Red Book to students at the University of California at Berkeley. In time, the Panther arsenal included machine guns; an assortment of rifles, handguns, explosives, and grenade launchers; and “boxes and boxes of ammunition,” recalled Elaine Brown, one of the party’s first female members, in her 1992 memoir. Some of this matériel came from the federal government: one member claimed he had connections at Camp Pendleton, in Southern California, who would sell the Panthers anything for the right price. One Panther bragged that, if they wanted, they could have bought an M48 tank and driven it right up the freeway.
Along with providing classes on black nationalism and socialism, Newton made sure recruits learned how to clean, handle, and shoot guns. Their instructors were sympathetic black veterans, recently home from Vietnam. For their “righteous revolutionary struggle,” the Panthers were trained, as well as armed, however indirectly, by the U.S. government.
Civil-rights activists, even those committed to nonviolent resistance, had long appreciated the value of guns for self-protection. Martin Luther King Jr. applied for a permit to carry a concealed firearm in 1956, after his house was bombed. His application was denied, but from then on, armed supporters guarded his home. One adviser, Glenn Smiley, described the King home as “an arsenal.” William Worthy, a black reporter who covered the civil-rights movement, almost sat on a loaded gun in a living-room armchair during a visit to King’s parsonage.
The Panthers, however, took it to an extreme, carrying their guns in public, displaying them for everyone—especially the police—to see. Newton had discovered, during classes at San Francisco Law School, that California law allowed people to carry guns in public so long as they were visible, and not pointed at anyone in a threatening way.
In February of 1967, Oakland police officers stopped a car carrying Newton, Seale, and several other Panthers with rifles and handguns. When one officer asked to see one of the guns, Newton refused. “I don’t have to give you anything but my identification, name, and address,” he insisted. This, too, he had learned in law school.
“Who in the hell do you think you are?” an officer responded.
“Who in the hell do you think you are?,” Newton replied indignantly. He told the officer that he and his friends had a legal right to have their firearms.
Newton got out of the car, still holding his rifle.
“What are you going to do with that gun?” asked one of the stunned policemen.
“What are you going to do with your gun?,” Newton replied.
By this time, the scene had drawn a crowd of onlookers. An officer told the bystanders to move on, but Newton shouted at them to stay. California law, he yelled, gave civilians a right to observe a police officer making an arrest, so long as they didn’t interfere. Newton played it up for the crowd. In a loud voice, he told the police officers, “If you try to shoot at me or if you try to take this gun, I’m going to shoot back at you, swine.” Although normally a black man with Newton’s attitude would quickly find himself handcuffed in the back of a police car, enough people had gathered on the street to discourage the officers from doing anything rash. Because they hadn’t committed any crime, the Panthers were allowed to go on their way.
The people who’d witnessed the scene were dumbstruck. Not even Bobby Seale could believe it. Right then, he said, he knew that Newton was the “baddest motherfucker in the world.” Newton’s message was clear: “The gun is where it’s at and about and in.” After the February incident, the Panthers began a regular practice of policing the police. Thanks to an army of new recruits inspired to join up when they heard about Newton’s bravado, groups of armed Panthers would drive around following police cars. When the police stopped a black person, the Panthers would stand off to the side and shout out legal advice.
Don Mulford, a conservative Republican state assemblyman from Alameda County, which includes Oakland, was determined to end the Panthers’ police patrols. To disarm the Panthers, he proposed a law that would prohibit the carrying of a loaded weapon in any California city. When Newton found out about this, he told Seale, “You know what we’re going to do? We’re going to the Capitol.” Seale was incredulous. “The Capitol?” Newton explained: “Mulford’s there, and they’re trying to pass a law against our guns, and we’re going to the Capitol steps.” Newton’s plan was to take a select group of Panthers “loaded down to the gills,” to send a message to California lawmakers about the group’s opposition to any new gun control.
The Panthers’ methods provoked an immediate backlash. The day of their statehouse protest, lawmakers said the incident would speed enactment of Mulford’s gun-control proposal. Mulford himself pledged to make his bill even tougher, and he added a provision barring anyone but law enforcement from bringing a loaded firearm into the state capitol.
Republicans in California eagerly supported increased gun control. Governor Reagan told reporters that afternoon that he saw “no reason why on the street today a citizen should be carrying loaded weapons.” He called guns a “ridiculous way to solve problems that have to be solved among people of good will.” In a later press conference, Reagan said he didn’t “know of any sportsman who leaves his home with a gun to go out into the field to hunt or for target shooting who carries that gun loaded.” The Mulford Act, he said, “would work no hardship on the honest citizen.”
The fear inspired by black people with guns also led the United States Congress to consider new gun restrictions, after the summer of 1967 brought what the historian Harvard Sitkoff called the “most intense and destructive wave of racial violence the nation had ever witnessed.” Devastating riots engulfed Detroit and Newark. Police and National Guardsmen who tried to help restore order were greeted with sniper fire.
A 1968 federal report blamed the unrest at least partly on the easy availability of guns. Because rioters used guns to keep law enforcement at bay, the report’s authors asserted that a recent spike in firearms sales and permit applications was “directly related to the actuality and prospect of civil disorders.” They drew “the firm conclusion that effective firearms controls are an essential contribution to domestic peace and tranquility.”
Political will in Congress reached the critical point around this time. In April of 1968, James Earl Ray, a virulent racist, used a Remington Gamemaster deer rifle to kill Martin Luther King Jr. in Memphis, Tennessee. King’s assassination—and the sniper fire faced by police trying to quell the resulting riots—gave gun-control advocates a vivid argument. Two months later, a man wielding a .22-caliber Iver Johnson Cadet revolver shot Robert F. Kennedy in Los Angeles. The very next day, Congress passed the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968, the first federal gun-control law in 30 years. Months later, the Gun Control Act of 1968 amended and enlarged it.
Together, these laws greatly expanded the federal licensing system for gun dealers and clarified which people—including anyone previously convicted of a felony, the mentally ill, illegal-drug users, and minors—were not allowed to own firearms. More controversially, the laws restricted importation of “Saturday Night Specials”—the small, cheap, poor-quality handguns so named by Detroit police for their association with urban crime, which spiked on weekends. Because these inexpensive pistols were popular in minority communities, one critic said the new federal gun legislation “was passed not to control guns but to control blacks.”
Indisputably, for much of American history, gun-control measures, like many other laws, were used to oppress African Americans. The South had long prohibited blacks, both slave and free, from owning guns. In the North, however, at the end of the Civil War, the Union army allowed soldiers of any color to take home their rifles. Even blacks who hadn’t served could buy guns in the North, amid the glut of firearms produced for the war. President Lincoln had promised a “new birth of freedom,” but many blacks knew that white Southerners were not going to go along easily with such a vision. As one freedman in Louisiana recalled, “I would say to every colored soldier, ‘Bring your gun home.’”
After losing the Civil War, Southern states quickly adopted the Black Codes, laws designed to reestablish white supremacy by dictating what the freedmen could and couldn’t do. One common provision barred blacks from possessing firearms. To enforce the gun ban, white men riding in posses began terrorizing black communities. In January 1866, Harper’s Weekly reported that in Mississippi, such groups had “seized every gun and pistol found in the hands of the (so called) freedmen” in parts of the state. The most infamous of these disarmament posses, of course, was the Ku Klux Klan.
In response to the Black Codes and the mounting atrocities against blacks in the former Confederacy, the North sought to reaffirm the freedmen’s constitutional rights, including their right to possess guns. General Daniel E. Sickles, the commanding Union officer enforcing Reconstruction in South Carolina, ordered in January 1866 that “the constitutional rights of all loyal and well-disposed inhabitants to bear arms will not be infringed.” When South Carolinians ignored Sickles’s order and others like it, Congress passed the Freedmen’s Bureau Act of July 1866, which assured ex-slaves the “full and equal benefit of all laws and proceedings concerning personal liberty … including the constitutional right to bear arms.”
That same year, Congress passed the nation’s first Civil Rights Act, which defined the freedmen as United States citizens and made it a federal offense to deprive them of their rights on the basis of race. Senator James Nye, a supporter of both laws, told his colleagues that the freedmen now had an “equal right to protection, and to keep and bear arms for self-defense.” President Andrew Johnson vetoed both laws. Congress overrode the vetoes and eventually made Johnson the first president to be impeached.
One prosecutor in the impeachment trial, Representative John Bingham of Ohio, thought that the only way to protect the freedmen’s rights was to amend the Constitution. Southern attempts to deny blacks equal rights, he said, were turning the Constitution—“a sublime and beautiful scripture—into a horrid charter of wrong.” In December of 1865, Bingham had proposed what would become the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution. Among its provisions was a guarantee that all citizens would be secure in their fundamental rights:
No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
The key phrase, in Bingham’s view, was privileges or immunities of citizens—and those “privileges or immunities,” he said, were “chiefly defined in the first eight amendments to the Constitution.” Jacob Howard of Michigan, the principal sponsor of Bingham’s amendment in the Senate, reminded his colleagues that these amendments guaranteed “the freedom of speech and of the press,” “the right to be exempt from unreasonable searches and seizures,” and “the right to keep and bear arms.”
Whether or not the Founding Fathers thought the Second Amendment was primarily about state militias, the men behind the Fourteenth Amendment—America’s most sacred and significant civil-rights law—clearly believed that the right of individuals to have guns for self-defense was an essential element of citizenship. As the Yale law professor Akhil Reed Amar has observed, “Between 1775 and 1866 the poster boy of arms morphed from the Concord minuteman to the Carolina freedman.”
The Fourteenth Amendment illustrates a common dynamic in America’s gun culture: extremism stirs a strong reaction. The aggressive Southern effort to disarm the freedmen prompted a constitutional amendment to better protect their rights. A hundred years later, the Black Panthers’ brazen insistence on the right to bear arms led whites, including conservative Republicans, to support new gun control. Then the pendulum swung back. The gun-control laws of the late 1960s, designed to restrict the use of guns by urban black leftist radicals, fueled the rise of the present-day gun-rights movement—one that, in an ironic reversal, is predominantly white, rural, and politically conservative.
Today, the NRA is the unquestioned leader in the fight against gun control. Yet the organization didn’t always oppose gun regulation. Founded in 1871 by George Wingate and William Church—the latter a former reporter for a newspaper now known for hostility to gun rights, The New York Times—the group first set out to improve American soldiers’ marksmanship. Wingate and Church had fought for the North in the Civil War and been shocked by the poor shooting skills of city-bred Union soldiers.
In the 1920s and ’30s, the NRA was at the forefront of legislative efforts to enact gun control. The organization’s president at the time was Karl T. Frederick, a Princeton- and Harvard-educated lawyer known as “the best shot in America”—a title he earned by winning three gold medals in pistol-shooting at the 1920 Summer Olympic Games. As a special consultant to the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws, Frederick helped draft the Uniform Firearms Act, a model of state-level gun-control legislation. (Since the turn of the century, lawyers and public officials had increasingly sought to standardize the patchwork of state laws. The new measure imposed more order—and, in most cases, far more restrictions.)
Frederick’s model law had three basic elements. The first required that no one carry a concealed handgun in public without a permit from the local police. A permit would be granted only to a “suitable” person with a “proper reason for carrying” a firearm. Second, the law required gun dealers to report to law enforcement every sale of a handgun, in essence creating a registry of small arms. Finally, the law imposed a two-day waiting period on handgun sales.
The NRA today condemns every one of these provisions as a burdensome and ineffective infringement on the right to bear arms. Frederick, however, said in 1934 that he did “not believe in the general promiscuous toting of guns. I think it should be sharply restricted and only under licenses.” The NRA’s executive vice president at the time, Milton A. Reckord, told a congressional committee that his organization was “absolutely favorable to reasonable legislation.” According to Frederick, the NRA “sponsored” the Uniform Firearms Act and promoted it nationwide. Highlighting the political strength of the NRA even back then, a 1932 Virginia Law Review article reported that laws requiring a license to carry a concealed weapon were already “in effect in practically every jurisdiction.”
When Congress was considering the first significant federal gun law of the 20th century—the National Firearms Act of 1934, which imposed a steep tax and registration requirements on “gangster guns” like machine guns and sawed-off shotguns—the NRA endorsed the law. Karl Frederick and the NRA did not blindly support gun control; indeed, they successfully pushed to have similar prohibitive taxes on handguns stripped from the final bill, arguing that people needed such weapons to protect their homes. Yet the organization stood firmly behind what Frederick called “reasonable, sensible, and fair legislation.”
One thing conspicuously missing from Frederick’s comments about gun control was the Second Amendment. When asked during his testimony on the National Firearms Act whether the proposed law violated “any constitutional provision,” he responded, “I have not given it any study from that point of view.” In other words, the president of the NRA hadn’t even considered whether the most far-reaching federal gun-control legislation in history conflicted with the Second Amendment. Preserving the ability of law-abiding people to have guns, Frederick would write elsewhere, “lies in an enlightened public sentiment and in intelligent legislative action. It is not to be found in the Constitution.”
In the 1960s, the NRA once again supported the push for new federal gun laws. After the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963 by Lee Harvey Oswald, who had bought his gun through a mail-order ad in the NRA’s American Rifleman magazine, Franklin Orth, then the NRA’s executive vice president, testified in favor of banning mail-order rifle sales. “We do not think that any sane American, who calls himself an American, can object to placing into this bill the instrument which killed the president of the United States.” Orth and the NRA didn’t favor stricter proposals, like national gun registration, but when the final version of the Gun Control Act was adopted in 1968, Orth stood behind the legislation. While certain features of the law, he said, “appear unduly restrictive and unjustified in their application to law-abiding citizens, the measure as a whole appears to be one that the sportsmen of America can live with.”
A growing group of rank-and-file NRA members disagreed. In an era of rising crime rates, fewer people were buying guns for hunting, and more were buying them for protection. The NRA leadership didn’t fully grasp the importance of this shift. In 1976, Maxwell Rich, the executive vice president, announced that the NRA would sell its building in Washington, D.C., and relocate the headquarters to Colorado Springs, retreating from political lobbying and expanding its outdoor and environmental activities.
Rich’s plan sparked outrage among the new breed of staunch, hard-line gun-rights advocates. The dissidents were led by a bald, blue-eyed bulldog of a man named Harlon Carter, who ran the NRA’s recently formed lobbying arm, the Institute for Legislative Action. In May 1977, Carter and his allies staged a coup at the annual membership meeting. Elected the new executive vice president, Carter would transform the NRA into a lobbying powerhouse committed to a more aggressive view of what the Second Amendment promises to citizens.
The new NRA was not only responding to the wave of gun-control laws enacted to disarm black radicals; it also shared some of the Panthers’ views about firearms. Both groups valued guns primarily as a means of self-defense. Both thought people had a right to carry guns in public places, where a person was easily victimized, and not just in the privacy of the home. They also shared a profound mistrust of law enforcement. (For years, the NRA has demonized government agents, like those in the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the federal agency that enforces gun laws, as “jack-booted government thugs.” Wayne LaPierre, the current executive vice president, warned members in 1995 that anyone who wears a badge has “the government’s go-ahead to harass, intimidate, even murder law-abiding citizens.”) For both the Panthers in 1967 and the new NRA after 1977, law-enforcement officers were too often representatives of an uncaring government bent on disarming ordinary citizens.
A sign of the NRA’s new determination to influence electoral politics was the 1980 decision to endorse, for the first time in the organization’s 100 years, a presidential candidate. Their chosen candidate was none other than Ronald Reagan, who more than a decade earlier had endorsed Don Mulford’s law to disarm the Black Panthers—a law that had helped give Reagan’s California one of the strictest gun-control regimes in the nation. Reagan’s views had changed considerably since then, and the NRA evidently had forgiven his previous support of vigorous gun control.
In 2008, in a landmark ruling, the U.S. Supreme Court declared that the government cannot ever completely disarm the citizenry. In District of Columbia v. Heller, the Supreme Court clearly held, for the first time, that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual’s right to possess a gun. In an opinion by Justice Antonin Scalia, the Court declared unconstitutional several provisions of the District’s unusually strict gun-control law, including its ban on handguns and its prohibition of the use of long guns for self-defense. Indeed, under D.C.’s law, you could own a shotgun, but you could not use it to defend yourself against a rapist climbing through your bedroom window.
Gun-rights groups trumpeted the ruling as the crowning achievement of the modern gun-rights movement and predicted certain victory in their war to end gun control. Their opponents criticized the Court’s opinion as right-wing judicial activism that would call into question most forms of gun control and lead inevitably to more victims of gun violence.
So far, at least, neither side’s predictions have come true. The courts have been inundated with lawsuits challenging nearly every type of gun regulation; in the three years since the Supreme Court’s decision, lower courts have issued more than 200 rulings on the constitutionality of gun control. In a disappointment to the gun-rights community, nearly all laws have been upheld.
The lower courts consistently point to one paragraph in particular from the Heller decision. Nothing in the opinion, Scalia wrote, should
be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings, or laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms.
This paragraph from the pen of Justice Scalia, the foremost proponent of constitutional originalism, was astounding. True, the Founders imposed gun control, but they had no laws resembling Scalia’s list of Second Amendment exceptions. They had no laws banning guns in sensitive places, or laws prohibiting the mentally ill from possessing guns, or laws requiring commercial gun dealers to be licensed. Such restrictions are products of the 20th century. Justice Scalia, in other words, embraced a living Constitution. In this, Heller is a fine reflection of the ironies and contradictions—and the selective use of the past—that run throughout America’s long history with guns.
Turning the average law abiding American gun owner and Constitutionalist into a domestic terrorist by attacking and provoking them to defend a line in the sand over gun ownership, a basic Second Amendment Right, is the apparent new game plan of the American Secret Shadow Government (SSG).
Of course the politicians pushing for new gun restrictions feel they are so special that they should be exempt from any new gun laws for the rest of their lives while everybody else must tow the mark.  If these new draconian unConstitutional measures are to be passed perhaps the blackmail machine must be activated and many “not to worry” visits will be made to politicians.  It remains to be seen if this can and will be enough. The gun lobby has substantial wealth and power and hunting with rifles is a major industry in a number of states, without which their economy would suffer greatly.  So this is lining up to quite a political battle, one that could be transformed into a real civil war.
So far it doesn’t look like a slam-dunc for these gun grabbing pols and they may have to accept their colleagues willingness to limit future supplies of certain semi-auto rifles and magazines and ammo.  But this may be more enough for them to attain their basic goals. Of course the new “Affordable health Care Act” may provide a backdoor means to label many gun owners as psychologically unfit and make them subject to arbitrary seizure and being swat teamed by police, especially if snitches can be recruited in most neighborhoods to make anonymous complaints to Homeland Security. Remember Janet Napolitanos’s instructed “if you see something say something” in order to keep the community safe from terrorists which may be hiding under every rock and behind every door.
Obviously Homeland Security hopes that this sort of advertising will create a society of snitches that trust no one and helps to erode the ties that hold communities together.  It’s anything but helping to keep folks safe. The USG is very crafty and one should expect a complete abuse of any power available in order to disarm as many Americans as possible.  So far the during the last 100 years the USG has a bad track record of following the US Constitution and its Bill of Rights. So expect the USG to pull out all the stops to get the guns away from the law abiding American gun owner.  It seems obvious their best solution is to provoke a full scale civil war now with Constitutional gun owners before the populace in general activates in mass against the ruling super-elites. The means and motives of the SSG to do so are well known to those researchers who have studied this process. Thanks to the Internet more and more of the public are waking up and becoming aware that in America the state has been hijacked by foreign power and offshore world banksters and America has been transformed into a world wide terror factory.  As the industrial manufacturing has been exported out of America, the new major industry that is now taking its place is this new type of manufacturing which is the production of domestic terrorists by prevaricated provocation of them.

Right now the main industry in America is rapidly become the manufacturing of false flag terror.  Folks can expect that it will be wrongly attributed to normal, law abiding American gun owners, Patriots and Constitutionalists in order to justify and continue the build up of a huge internal police state mechanism called Homeland Security which is actually the New American Gestapo, fully against the US Constitution and Rule of Law and run by offshore Powers That Be (PTB) who have hijacked America through the SSG and are now functioning more like the east German Stasi than American Law Enforcement should.  This is no coincidence since the former head of the East German Stasi Marcus Wolfe was hired as a consultant to set up Homeland Security two years before he died mysteriously.

And it is all based on a gigantic fraud on the American people.  The real folks that should be indicted and arrested are the sociopathic criminals and their worker bees who run run this massive unConstitutional spy and terror operation against innocent Americans.  These folks of course receive very generous salaries and benefits for their doing their dirty work and often they become intoxicated with their own importance and power which makes it quite easy to rationalize oppressing normal law abiding innocent American Citizens.  Most of the real terrorists just happen reside inside the beltway and run the USG and its massive secret spy agencies and these are the folks who use terrorist cutouts like al Queda (aka el cia duh) to institute false flag attacks to justify and start illegal wars.
Of course astute researchers know that the “underwear bomber” was a mindkontrolled patsy dupe put on the plane by high ranking intel that used their power to sidestep security.  We know that since 911 all the so-called terrorists and their so-called terror attacks have been set up and provoked by Homeland Security using intellectually challenged mindkontrolled patsies that have been trained, conned and provided with dummy bombs.  This is all “Terror Theatrics” to keep the public at large conned and justify ever increasing budgets to fund more Stasi type spying and con the dumbed-down public.  Thus the staging of this synthetic or virtual terror and the use of the major mass media to present a continual stream of blatant lies and USG propaganda about these Terror Theatrics helps elicit basic primal fear in the public which motivates them to give up more and more personal freedom for false promises from the USG of increased safety from the terrorists (which are actually Homeland Security opswho stage these terror ops often by the use of imported foreign based cutouts from the Mideast).
As the asset stripping of America to feed this War on Terror/War Machine monster has nearly reached environmental limits, the Powers That Be (PTB) are bringing the War on Terror home to the Continental America.
This involves the same transformation they have used so successfully in Mideast countries and now in African countries, except that here in the continental America the special ops/terrorists will be dressing up and assuming the identities of normal American Patriots as was done with the Murrah Building inside job alleged and believed to have been done by American and foreign intel operatives embedded in certain alphabet agencies and private lobbying organizations serving as foreign spy ops.  You know, the folks that train most large American police departments in “proper law enforcement practices”, the ones that provide their own massive intel smear sheets of their designated American terrorists (the real patriots) and provide advanced all-paid terror training junkets. These are the folks that are constantly creating watch lists of so-called dangverous subversives which in most cases are ordinary law abiding patriots and Constitutionalists, many of which are also gun owners too.
These false flag attacks must be deployed in such a manner that they create a realistic illusion that normal law abiding Americans can be easily transformed into American Terrorists if they are allowed access to guns and “bad Internet conspiracy theories”.
Here is the process of how this is being attempted now by the SSG.  Send in special ops in terrorist dress to commit acts of terror which are wrongly attributed to the designated enemy, which is usually a former ally that has been pumped up with numerous American defense Contractor arms sales.  Then attack that former ally to destroy the framed alleged terrorists before they supposedly will bring the war home to America, which will never happen.  It all sounds so real to the American news consumers who have been easily duped in the past.  Now after years and years of this and a great deal of exposure to the alternative media on the World-wide Internet, folks everywhere are starting to catch on to the con and are waking up to this game of all games.
One essential part of this methodology is for the PTB to appoint Goebbels like sociopaths who will do anything evil as instructed, things no normal individual will do.  But these folks are an essential cog in the wheel needed to transform America into a complete Terror state, all the while wrongly accusing their war targets of being terrorists.  This is the legendary stuff of the two headed phoenix bird, and is COMPLETE DUPLICITY.  It’s the pot calling the kettle black and nothing less than the BIG LIE taken to a grotesque extreme. Folks who miss this can’t see the forest through the trees.  this is what George Orwell and Aldous Huxley warned us about.
Why the heck can’t we just have normal looking, normal acting average people running our Government?  The answer of course is that the PTB won’t allow this because normal folks resist pressures to act criminally.  Some experts have said that few ever become part of the 535 unless they are somehow compromised.  Many have made millions from insider trading and special home mortgage deals. Some have certain hidden vices and have been honey trapped and compromised.  Those who run these human compromise ops can call on them anytime they need a special vote.  Not to cooperate can mean public exposure and often immediate political ruin or even jail.
The PTB know their time is probably short as the economic system is moving towards eventual collapse like a house of cards.  They know that they must create major domestic problems of new major wars to serve as cover and distraction for this impending collapse or they could easily end up swinging from a military gallows for treason and sedition. They have devised a very crafty solutions based on some of their past practices using false flag terror attacks such as the Murrah Building and the 911 attacks which most American bought hook, line and sinker. No one knows for sure which solutions they will select, but folks can make an educated guess.
The SSG knows that soon as the collapse starts, unless there are cover conditions created, they will be blamed for it and the public will organize against them. They know that the public at large will remember the two major bailouts and the continuing Quantitative Easings which funneled many trillions of US Dollars to offshore controlled banksters and has nearly completely asset stripped America.
The SSG believes that in order to be able to win they must take a number of preparatory actions.  They must disarm the public of semi-auto rifles with high capacity magazines, and dry up the supply of guns and ammo in general.  if in the process a full scale internal war erupts, such a revolt can be labelled as strictly due to domestic terrorists. The SSG probably wants to provoke this cycle earlier than later before Patriots and Constitutionalists can evoke critical mass in the general masses.
The SSG has behavioral analysis teams which use high powered state of the art super-computers with complex algorithm based multivariate and regression analysis programs which “games” the future expected societal changes and predicts vulnerability points where corrections and control measures can be most effectively instituted. These teams had previously concluded that eventually the Arab world would become a potent political force in the world and it would be best to proactively neutralize it before it could reach any significant world power level.  This was done by co-opting numerous Arab states, creating and arming dictators in some and then using them for a base to blame for false flag attacks and institute wars against. At least one major Arab oil state and another Mideast state was fully co-opted and used to finance terror all over the Mideast and the world and used as cutouts for the American Secret Shadow Government (SSG).
The SSG knows that they must bring the War on Terror home to America in full force in order to fully subdue the American masses. They have probably decided that in order to do this they must institute a process to select and identify honest law abiding Americans who want the US Constitution followed by DC Politicians, have semi-automatic rifles and won’t give them up no mater what laws are passed, so they can label them as domestic terrorists to be swat teamed and attacked door to door.
They know that in order to create a justifiable pretext to gain backing from the unarmed citizen that has an aversion to guns and doesn’t understand the Second Amendment (designed to protect citizens from a tyrannical government, not for hunting), they must institute synthetic domestic terrorism.  And to do this they know they must stage numerous false flag mass murders in schools, shopping centers and other public venues using young men treated and drugged by spy-chiatrists using advanced MK-Ultra style subprograms in order to con their naive public supporters to back their proposed semi-auto rifle ban.  they also realize that a strong but still less than majority group of American law abiding gun Owners have drawn a line in the sand and will refuse to give up their guns.
Operation Fast & Furious and “Operation Gun Walker” were very crafty false flag attacks on the Second Amendment, but both failed because there were some very strong stand up heroes inside the normally debased BATF that refused to allow such blatantly evil and illegal acts to continue, acts which have resulted in hundreds of murders including murders of US Border Patrol and US Citizens as well as many innocent Mexican citizens. Highest commendations are due these exceptional whistle blowers, folks who had massive courage like Philip Whitehurst MD, a particularly impressive hero who took on the whole FBI over years of faked evidence from the FBI crime lab used to wrongly convict innocent arrestees and prevailed despite unbelievable opposition from the criminals at the top.
As far as Fast & Furious, the truly sad thing is those responsible should have been charged with negligent homicide, perjury, abuse of process, and obstruction of justice at a minimum, and probably criminal RICO.  Instead they claimed they never knew about these sick operations which they intended to keep secret from the American taxpayer forever.
The SSG knows that they can bring in black ops teams to impersonate law abiding gun owners and Patriots and who will gladly fire on police and USG officials, who will then in turn blame and wage war against innocent American Patriots and gun owners by going door to door to confiscate any guns, and by declaration of martial law and use of numerous roadblocks and vehicle searches. This massive effort to generate war profits through the manufacture and export of terror, followed by an aerial attack and invasion, has been a continuing process and one that has asset stripped America to the point of near bankruptcy. This massive “war On Terror” process to create and manage foreign wars has so asset stripped the American taxpayer that they are in mass starting to wake up to take their country back.

The folks working in the “Federal Family” have great pay (about twice the average ordinary American or more), maximum job security, huge retirements and many privileges of being aligned with POWER (and the power can be intoxicating!).  And of course the 535 members of Congress take excellent care of their own financial and health care needs with great pay and benefits.  And  many have become multi-millionaires through massive insider trading deals and special bank mortgage deals on their homes. This so-called serving of one’s country inside the beltway is very beneficial for those involved, but not so good for the rest of America or those poor unfortunate soldiers who have to do the fighting to support these staged foreign wars for profit.
The American people are starting to understand that the War on Terror is a phony that is perpetrated by American intel and its foreign subcontractor cutouts to be fought by the American Military who are some of the finest soldiers in the world who should never be put in harm’s way to enhance the wealth and power of uncaring sociopathic and criminal offshore foreign entities that have hijacked America.  The offshore based PTB know that to complete their take-down and breakup of America the Republic, they must use the “perfidious albion” strategy  for the City of  London Financial District (the Crown) to divide and conquer.  Obviously the recent staged mass murder shootings can be effectively manipulated in the major mass media to help split the public into two factions, the gun rights folks versus the gun phobic gun-grabbers who want major draconian gun grabbing laws passed.  Of course experts like John Lott know that passing more gun laws will never disarm criminals or criminal gangs who can easily buy anything they want on the black market anytime day or night.  It is interesting to note that American Intel has been exposed a number of times selling or even giving fully automatic rifles with large capacity magazines to the Mexican drug cartels who in turn provide them to their assets inside America and also sell them to other drug gangs for high prices on the black market.

The United States has become almost permanently divided between those who wait on bated breath for the next government handout, let government make all the decisions for them and do not want to take responsibility for any of their decisions and those who cherish individual freedom and self responsibility. It didn’t happen overnight, but through a progression of creeping incrementalism that has taken apart our society one step at a time.

The Second Amendment:The third most important weapon governments use in their quest for tyranny, is to disarm the citizens. The Founding Fathers warned of this and hence gave us the Second Amendment.  It is our protection against those who wish to destroy our country. Little by little the governments at all levels have tried to restrict gun ownership, in fact, if they can’t outlaw weapons, then the next best step is to tax and regulate it to death.
I received this bit of information this past week and it was spot-on to the point about gun ownership in the United States. America’s hunters make up the largest “army” in the world, which may have played heavily on Japan’s non-interest in an invasion of the United States, which has been the center-point of many discussions in the past. Whether an armed citizenry had any deterrence effect at all, does not detract that we have living examples before our very eyes…”From the Viet Cong to the Mujahideen in Afghanistan, it has been proven much more recently that peasants with guns and a cause they believed in can thwart the organized might of the world’s greatest military superpowers”. There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin.  Allow me to restate that number, 600,000, and add more men under arms than in Iran.  More than France and Germany combined. Yet Wisconsin pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan’s 700,000 hunters, all of whom have now returned home safely. If the numbers were added for all the other states, it would amount to tens of millions. When I mentioned this down at the barber shop, some dufus (A colloquial term for an inept or stupid person) commented, “gun owners are just a bunch of macho guys who use defending the country for they reason to keep their guns, but any real army would walk all over them in a heartbeat”. That’s what the Russians thought in Afghanistan.
A large percentage of gun owners in America are military veterans, and members of the National Guard and Reserves. There are about 350 million guns owned by US citizens, most in the hands of competent shooters. So if push came to shove, it would amount to quite an obstacle for anyone invading the US. We all hope that such a scenario would never have to be played out on our shores, but it is the same principle as to why we have nuclear weapons. After seeing the totally destructive power wrecked upon Japan in World War II, just being the biggest, baddest, guy on the block in the nuclear department, is the best deterrence to having to use them. I for one would never want to be number 2.
If we stop and eyeball the situation presented here, how else can one explain the strange and pointed events tearing this country apart. Is it part of a “master plan” of the globalists? Is it just naivety on the part of half our population not carrying about success and seeing their families rise from poverty, or is pure and simple stupidity brought on by the “dumbing down of America”?
The 1928 Weimar Law on Firearms and Ammunition required the registration of most lawfully owned firearms, as do the laws of some American states. The Weimar registration programme provided the information which the Nazis needed to disarm the Jews and others considered untrustworthy. In November 1938, the Nazis passed their own Weapons Law which banned Jews from the firearms business and required surrender of all firearms and edged weapons.
In the same month came The Night of the Broken Glass (Kristallnacht)--the infamous Nazi rampage against Germany's Jews. Aside from the Jews there was almost no resistance in Germany itself, because the Nazis had enjoyed years in which they could enforce the gun laws to ensure that no potential opponent of the regime had the means to resist. Under the Weimar Law, the German police were granted complete discretion to deny licenses to criminals or individuals the police deemed untrustworthy. The Nazi disarmament campaign began as soon as Hitler assumed power in 1933. Other European countries also had laws requiring police records to be kept on persons who possessed firearms.
When the Nazis took over Czechoslovakia and Poland in 1939, it was a simple matter to identify gun owners. Many of them disappeared in the middle of the night along with political opponents. The invasion of Belgium, Holland and France in May 1940 was accompanied by a law called Regulations on Arms Possession in the Occupied Zone which ordered the surrender of all firearms and munitions on pain of death. (Almost about the same as Marcos in the Islands during the 70's. All of the major tyrannical regimes of the twentieth century imposed restrictive gun laws on the populations before they murdered and terrorized them en masse. The countries examined were Ottoman Turkey, USSR, Nazi Germany, China, Guatemala, Uganda, and Cambodia. The same thing happened in Rwanda )
Switzerland was the only country in Europe, indeed in the world, where every man had a military rifle in his home. Nazi invasion plans acknowledged the dissuasive nature of this armed populace.
In this troubled times the Supreme Court is on the side of ordinary citizens. If ever our government turned undemocratic, you have at least an option. General Tommy Franks, former leader of the coalition forces in Iraq says that if the United States is hit with a weapon of mass destruction that inflicts large casualties, the Constitution will likely be discarded in favor of a military form of government. The track record of governments of undemocratic countries murdering unarmed citizens according to Death By Government, on government sponsored mass murder over the twentieth century was 169,202, 000.
Of the seven genocidal governments studied, not one announced its intention to its victims. All of the victims were told that they were being temporarily relocated or another lie in order to induce them not to resist. And one of the reasons that the lies were believed by so many people is that there are many governments throughout world history which have sent people on forced marches or other forms of forced relocation and not killed them.
Previously, the Bush Administration was contemplating a draft of civilian professionals into the U.S. Army to be sent over to the Middle East. These are America's middle class - engineers, doctors, etc. It has consistently lied to its regular troops about the length of time they will stay in Iraq. At this time, it appears they will be there for years to come. Over three hundred thousand U.S. troops who have served in the Gulf Region since 1990 are now seriously ill with Gulf War Illness and tens of thousands more have died from it.  You be the judge..........................ASC

Take note fellow Americans, before it's too late!

Don't have to prepare for a Teotwawki risk event to justify owning a firearm.  Teotwawki is acronym for "the end of the world as we know it", a risk event affecting our daily lives similar to what happened to those in New Orleans who suffered the post Hurricane Katrina conditions.
This model is commonly known as "the end of the world as we know it" (TEOTWAWKI) and is by all accounts the worst-case scenario. The model's basic premise is that all the fragile supply chains and negative feedback loops (built-in stabilizers) of the global economy will fall in domino fashion. History provides some "stock" examples:
1. An extended period of bad weather causes drought/hunger which then triggers geopolitical conflict; together the two forces cause massive declines in population and/or outmigration.
2. A new disease (plague or equivalent) spreads to populations with little resistance to the new microbe. The resulting pandemic weakens food production, trade and social organization which undermines public health in a positive feedback loop.
The advent of weapons of mass destruction and a fossil fuel-based global economy offer up two "modern" scenarios:
3. A global nuclear/biological/WMD war decimates populations and triggers breakdown of food production and supply chains when then cause further suffering/death.
4. The depletion of cheap, abundant fossil fuels triggers geopolitical conflicts which undermine the global economy and eventually civil society.
5. If global warming is not primarily a natural cycle but one caused by greenhouse gases, then runaway burning of coal, etc. triggers a meltdown of the polar ice caps which raises sea levels, flooding much of coastal civilization.
There are many variations but the basic model remains: resource/soil depletion and population over-reach leave the human population vulnerable to typical long-cycle weather fluctuations. Once food, energy and water become scarce (the FEW resources), then resolution is sought by conquest/conflict which triggers positive feedback loops which further erode supply chains, public health, State-imposed stabilizers, etc.
To claim the present human populace is not exposed to just this sort of risk would be folly. However, claims that TEOTWAWKI is also inevitable tend to ignore negative feedback loops which act to stabilize systems.
No one can know the future, but we can safely observe that societies with little redundancy, few robust negative feedback loops and a culture steeped in complacency are much more likely to suffer a runaway (positive feedback/domino effect) "doomsday" scenario than those societies which anticipate the consequences of over-reach/depletion and which refuse to heed the siren-song of complacency.
As the most heavily armed society in the developed world, the U.S. can easily go the way of well-armed criminal gangs controlling urban zones or well-armed militia sprouting up to take out the criminals. There is historical precedents for either scenario. A third scenario (common in the 3rd World) is for wealthy enclaves to hire private forces to protect the enclave.
While I can't predict which will play out in various circumstances, we should be aware that the U.S. has millions of military veterans and millions of weapons.
It boils down to this: when you run out of money, you switch religions from Consumerism to one of the good old spiritual standbys.
The known sources of happiness require little to no consumption:
1. health
2. friends
3. free time to pursue interests
4. spiritual communion/worship
5. exercise/sports/play
6. gardening
7. meaningful work (unpaid qualifies)
The experience of well-being has been so derealized that the sense of deprivation experienced at the loss of fine dining, Caribbean cruises, season tickets to the games, etc. is itself suspect.
We might even speculate that the experience of genuine happiness and well-being has largely been forgotten, or perhaps is an unknown sensation to media-numbed "consumers."
A lot of what I hear and read on the subject of defensive handguns shows evidence of confusion on terminology. There is a world of difference between a concealed-carry handgun and a home-defense handgun. Since we don't usually carry our handguns openly as we go about our daily lives in public view, we need to carry them concealed. I must emphasize that this can only be done where it is legally permissible and usually only when we have obtained the necessary governmental license to do so.
Carrying concealed is a complicated matter, but it should be obvious that a concealed-carry handgun is one that is adequate for personal defense and can be easily concealed. For a number of reasons, such a firearm tends to be small, simple and above all, light. If it isn't, you will eventually rationalize away the need for carrying it.
If the defensive handgun is not going to be carried concealed, but rather kept for use in the home when needed. Once again, the gun should be adequate for personal defense, but there are no tactical restrictions imposed by its size and weight. You can keep a large, heavy handgun in a variety of locations around your home and have it ready for use against an intruder. I digress for a moment to advise that where and how the gun is stored is your responsibility, but it must be kept out of the hands of those who are not skilled in its use.
For either role, we choose a handgun that is “adequate for personal defense” in the tactical sense, so any concealed-carry handgun is also a home-defense handgun, but it is not necessarily true the other way around. As a general rule, a larger, heavier handgun is better when a fight really starts, but a smaller lighter one is more likely to be there. As a matter of economy, I can understand a person using his concealed carry gun at home, but if he is never going to carry it away from the house, better to choose something that has a little more heft to it.

We live in a time of fast-moving innovation. Applied technology has conditioned us to believe that anything is possible. Certainly this trend is applicable to the world of firearms. I mean this in the sense that new makers and technologies challenge existing stereotypes as to the size, weight, shape and performance of particular kinds of guns. In other words, it is not outside of reason to want a feathery-light magnum revolver. When enough folks said this, Smith &Wesson came up with the scandium-aluminum alloy that made it happen. But it sometimes happens that what the market wants is just a little beyond what technology can provide and the result is not so good.
Shortly after the popularity of magnum revolvers exploded, the high-capacity pistol also arrived on the scene. We had several brands of big rugged wheelguns permitted sportsmen to shoot farther and harder. At the same time, another branch of the handgun world was all wrapped up in shooting multiple targets in a race-like atmosphere. This was the province of the modern “race gun.” Both types of mechanisms have both strong and weak points. It was inevitable that someone would find a way to make an auto behave like a revolver. The goal was to develop a pistol capable of cycling more than six of the long magnum cartridges common to revolvers. For a few years there, the competition to do so was vigorous.
The first gun to attempt the feat borrowed heavily from the 1911. It was known as the Coonan, from the name of the developer. Made in only a few variations, the Coonan was essentially a recoil-operated pistol in the 1911 style. The receiver and magazine well were extended slightly to accept a magazine of long .357 Mag. cartridges. Even then, the designers came up with a clever rib that induced a tilt in the column of cartridges. I understand a few guns were made in .41 Mag., but I also remember working away at a rimless .41 called the .41 Charger. The Coonan went away after 10 years or so, but I am glad to see that it came back—this is a nice gun.
An even earlier magnum auto was the exotic Wildey. It seemed to have more lives than a cat, but all iterations came from the same design. It is a gas-operated gun that taps off gas to turn a lugged bolt in and out of engagement with the frame. Using special ammo made by Winchester in 9 mm and .45, the Wildey was a powerful pistol that was plagued with technical and production problems. I once reviewed one of these beasts and recall murderous recoil.
The supply of great Winchester ammo in .45 Win. Mag. created by and for the Wildey pistol prompted another company to bring out a much beefed-up 1911 pistol called the Grizzly. Adapted to the .44 Mag., the Grizzly was a strong, accurate, reliable pistol that was not difficult to shoot. For reasons that are not particularly apparent, the Grizzly began to slip and eventually disappeared, which leaves the one remaining gun—the Desert Eagle. I was lucky enough to shoot a Desert Eagle in four calibers and was particularly impressed with the accuracy. The .41 Mag. would shoot with the best revolvers in that caliber and that is a rarefied atmosphere. These guns are still available as of this writing, but I don't believe they are a big seller for Magnum Research.
It's quite understandable that when autos were blossoming in general popularity, people would want one that was as powerful as the most powerful revolvers made at the time. We have established that it can be done. All four of the Magnum Autos worked and a couple of them were both accurate and rugged. But the guns themselves were hugely expensive, way too big and heavy to carry in the field and kicked like the proverbial Missouri mule. In short, they were impractical.
Australia was once a penal colony for the British Empire, so most of the citizens of this nation are descendents of convicted criminals. Most U.S. citizens are not aware of the fact that Australia immediately outlawed private ownership of firearms after Martin Bryant, a so-called "mad murderer", killed 35 and wounded another eighteen people on the public streets of Port Author, Tasmania, in April 28, 1996, using an AR-15, .223 cal. assault rifle. Within twelve months after the outlawing of guns were passed by the Australian government, 640,381 guns were bought off the streets at the cost of over $500 million, Australian. Twelve months later, a study was made of the effects of such radical gun control, with the following results:
Australia-wide, homicides went up 3.2%.
Australia-wide, assaults went up 8.6%.
Australia-wide, armed-robberies went up 44%.
In the state of Victoria, homicides-with-firearms went up 300%!
The steady decrease in homicides-with-firearms that occurred during the previous 25 years became an increase in the 12 months following the ban on weapons.

There has been a dramatic increase in breakins-and-assaults-of-the-elderly.
At the time of the ban, the Prime Minister said "self-defense is not a reason for owning a firearm".
From 1910 to present, homicides in Australia have averaged about 1.8-per-100,000 or lower, a safe society by any standard.
The ban has destroyed Australia's standings in some international sport shooting competitions.
The membership of the Australian Sports Shooting Association has increased by 200% in response to the ban and in an attempt to organize against further controls, which are expected.
Australian politicians are on the spot and at a loss to explain why no improvement in "safety" has been observed after such monumental effort and expense was successfully expended in "ridding society of guns". Their response has been to "wait longer".

During the years 2001 and 2002, armed robberies, Australia wide, increased 34.1% over the period just before the elimination of private ownership of firearms.
Concentration Camps
The Elite have already established "concentration camps" on military bases in the U.S. to house the militia members and other protesting citizens once they have outlawed private ownership of weapons.
Los Angeles Times, Wednesday, 14 August, 2002Atty. Gen. John Ashcroft's announced desire for camps for U.S. citizens he deems to be "enemy combatants" has moved him from merely being a political embarrassment to being a constitutional menace.
Ashcroft's plan, disclosed last week but little publicized, would allow him to order the indefinite incarceration of U.S. citizens and summarily strip them of their constitutional rights and access to the courts by declaring them enemy combatants.

Martial Law
The Elite cannot accomplish their American Union (New World Order) without declaring Martial Law. In order to justify such a drastic measure, there must be a major crisis, such as a violent and widespread internal dissent or national opposition against a U.S. military invasion abroad, resistance to the outlawing of ownership of guns by U.S. citizens, or a major financial crisis. We are now on the verge of all of the above, with the invasion of Iraq, constant demands for tighter gun control to stop terrorist acts, and the Wall Street melt down. Opponents of this action would without doubt file civil action to stop Martial Law from being enacted, which means that it would doubtlessly end up in the U.S. Supreme Court. You might surmise then that this court would rule in our favor, until you learn that two sitting judges on this court are members of the CFR; Stephen G. Breyer and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. You might say that the chances of the CFR controlling the Supreme Court are slim, until you learn that during one of the recent changes in this court, on the short-list of five candidates, "only" CFR members were considered for the vacated position.
Spying on U.S. Citizens
There is now a proposal to open all snail-mail sent to Congress, digitize it, and make it available to the recipient by E-mail. The stated purpose of doing this is to protect members of Congress from anthrax, and to save their staff time in opening the mail. The REAL reason is to snoop the correspondence to see what is inside. All electronic means of correspondence are now being monitored by NSA's operation ECHELON. Once they have digitized the snail-mail, there will be no secrets between members of Congress and their constituents. Now they are considering establishing a spy agency to monitor all U.S. citizens, just like the MI-5 spy agency does in Great Britain. This group of spooks will probably be positioned within the new Homeland Security Agency.
The National Security Act of 1947 established the CIA, and prohibited it's operations within the United States. However, the CIA was granted legal authority to spy on U.S. citizens by Executive Order 12333, dated Dec. 4, 1981, signed by Ronald Reagan. This E.O. reads: Article 1.8 (c) Conduct counterintelligence activities outside the United States and, without assuming or performing any internal security functions, conduct counterintelligence activities within the United States in coordination with the FBI as required by procedures agreed upon by the Director of Central Intelligence and the Attorney General; Article (i) Conduct such administrative and technical support activities within and outside the United States as are necessary to perform the functions described in sections (a) through (h) above, including procurement and essential cover and proprietary arrangements. The Gun is Civilization

Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that's it.
In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact through persuasion. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.
When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason and try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force.
The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gang banger, and a single guy on equal footing with a carload of drunk guys with baseball bats. The gun removes the disparity in
physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender.

There are plenty of people who consider the gun as the source of bad force equations. These are the people who think that we'd be more civilized if all guns were removed from society, because a firearm makes it easier for a [armed] mugger to do his job. That, of course, is only true if the mugger's potential victims are mostly disarmed either by choice or by legislative fiat--it has no validity when most of a mugger's potential marks are armed.
People who argue for the banning of arms ask for automatic rule by the young, the strong, and the many, and that's the exact opposite of a civilized society. A mugger, even an armed one, can only make a successful living in a society where the state has granted him a force monopoly.
Then there's the argument that the gun makes confrontations lethal that otherwise would only result in injury. This argument is fallacious in several ways. Without guns involved, confrontations are won by the physically superior party inflicting overwhelming injury on the loser.
People who think that fists, bats, sticks, or stones don't constitute lethal force watch too much TV, where people take beatings and come out of it with a bloody lip at worst. The fact that the gun makes lethal force easier works solely in favor of the weaker defender, not the stronger attacker. If both are armed, the field is level.
The gun is the only weapon that's as lethal in the hands of an octogenarian as it is in the hands of a weight lifter. It simply wouldn't work as well as a force equalizer if it wasn't both lethal and easily employable.
When I carry a gun, I don't do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I'm looking to be left alone. The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded. I don't carry it because I'm afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid. It doesn't limit the actions of those who would interact with me through reason, only the actions of those who would do so by force. It removes force from the equation... and that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act.

A gun trade show in the U.S. has attracted huge crowds and posted record sales - just weeks after 20 children and six adults were shot dead in the Sandy Hook school massacre.
Many vendors at the Nation's Gun Show, held over three days in Chantilly, Virginia, struggled to keep up with demand as customers rushed to snap up assault-type rifles, handguns, ammunition and magazines.
As the debate over gun control continues to rage in the U.S. in the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting on December 14, some commentators said boosted sales at the trade show were down to fears such weapons may not be on the market for much longer.
